What’s So Special About the Cayman Islands?

As Grand Cayman locals, you may think we’re biased when we say the Cayman Islands are a truly special vacation destination.

But having welcomed many guests over the years, we’ve seen time and again just how big of an impression the place we call home makes on people.

At Red Sail Sports, we have been the leading provider of beach activities, watersports, and boat excursions in Grand Cayman since 1987.

We’ve spent countless hours exploring Grand Cayman, the largest of the Cayman Islands.

Given its greater options for activities and adventures when compared with Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, we’ll focus our attention on what makes Grand Cayman special.

Grand Cayman is a Genuine Caribbean Paradise Island

If you’re looking for the quintessential Caribbean experience, Grand Cayman is the place for you!

Shimmering azure waters, white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, exotic marine life — it’s all here.

And in addition to this incredible natural beauty, the locals are friendly, warm, and welcoming.

You will be sure to experience the meaning of “Caymankind”.

This perfect setting for a relaxing Caribbean getaway is just one of the reasons why people travel from all over the world to visit Grand Cayman.

You Can Swim with Wild Stingrays at Stingray City!

In a crowded and competitive field of amazing attractions in Grand Cayman, Stingray City is one of the most popular.

This is where you can swim with friendly southern stingrays in their natural habitat.

These gentle creatures will swim up to you and allow you to touch, pet, and even hold them.

Spending time in the shallow, crystal-clear ocean water interacting with these playful creatures will leave you with memories you’ll never forget.
Browse our range of Stingray City tours to find out more about this one-of-a-kind experience.

Have Fun or Relax on Beautiful Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach is another of Grand Cayman’s must-visit destinations.

This stunning beach stretches for 6.3 miles and is consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the world.

And there’s a reason why this gorgeous crescent of white sand is at the heart of so many Grand Cayman vacations.

It’s the perfect spot to relax, soak up the sun, and take a dip in the inviting water.

You can also go for a long, gentle walk, jog, or just chill with a good book.

Seven Mile Beach is the perfect spot for all things fun and relaxing.

Grand Cayman Isn’t a Party Island

Grand Cayman offers many opportunities for thrills and excitement, but this doesn’t come in the form of a party destination.

The island has a laid-back and relaxed vibe, with a focus on family-friendly activities and a more sophisticated atmosphere.

Of course, there are still many bars and restaurants to enjoy drinks and music while taking in the beautiful island views.

But, on Saturdays, all bars and clubs must stop selling alcohol at midnight

As such, there are no massive beach parties and loud clubs that will keep you awake through the night.

Grand Cayman Has World-Class Scuba Diving Sites

Grand Cayman is a diver’s paradise, with outstanding scuba diving sites either accessible directly from the shore or via a short boat ride.

And there are options for all levels, from beginners to experienced divers.

You can expect looming walls, thriving coral reefs, shipwrecks, and more!

The USS Kittiwake wreck is among the most famous of our diving sites, but that’s only the start.

The underwater world of Grand Cayman, and the Cayman Islands as a whole, is breathtaking.

In fact, there are 365 dive sites across all three islands — one for every day of the year!

Grand Cayman Isn’t as Built-Up as Other Caribbean Islands

While Grand Cayman has grown in popularity over the years, it’s retained much of its original charm.

Yes, you’ll spot some familiar sights. But you’ll also see locals playing dominoes as well as vendors chopping coconuts and mangoes on street corners.

Even the main hubs on the island take a matter of minutes to walk through.

This all helps in the disconnection process, allowing you to enjoy a more relaxed and authentic Caribbean experience.

Rum Point

Rum Point is a Gem on Grand Cayman’s North Side

Located on Grand Cayman’s north coast, Rum Point is a popular destination for both tourists and locals.

This beautiful spot is known for its white sand beach, clear water, jet skis, and great food and drinks.

Our Rum Point Club is located here, offering delicious island eating right on the beach.

And don’t forget to try our famous Mudslide from the bar!
We also provide boat excursions from Rum Point too, so you can visit this stunning area before or after an adventure out at sea.

Grand Cayman Has an Amazing Food Scene

Grand Cayman has a diverse and thriving culinary scene, with options ranging from casual beach bars to upscale fine dining.

As you might expect from a Caribbean island, Grand Cayman is famous for its seafood, with fresh fish and lobster caught daily.

But there are also plenty of other options to choose from, including traditional Caribbean cuisine, international flavors, and even vegan and vegetarian options.

No matter what you’re in the mood for, you can find it in Grand Cayman.
